Imagine. Imagine Life. Imagine Lives.
May all the children, all God's children, get a chance to at least start their own life. To life!
And, may we human adults learn our responsibilities for and to one another, especially to those who need and depend on us most.
Imagine an eternal wonder repeated by millions of little humans that may be heard by those willing to hear with gentle, broken hearts:
"While waiting quietly, hopefully, and I thought snug and safely, on the threshold of a unique-in-the-universe life of my own, I was suddenly being yanked and turned about, and then being dismembered for parts of me to be sold and used by merchants of death.
I could hear voices near and far away.
A few voices were adding up some numbers, adding them to a growing count, mentioning lots of dollars, recorded in blood red figures onto a spreadsheet: brain, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys… but no mention of my name.
So many other voices I could hear from far and wide happily satisfied in telling one another in a great chorus that, 'Our hands are clean, our minds are clear, 'cause we all agreed not to judge others' beliefs or behaviors.'
But, somewhere in between those voices I heard other choked voices weeping, humble, heartbreaking confessions, prayers and pleas, 'God save the child.'
Now, in God’s eternity alongside all the many millions of others like me who never received a name before finding ourselves whisked away, we each now have a unique, precious name, because God always knew us, knew us each by name.
And, we each are continually praying for God’s loving-kind mercy to shine in the hearts and hands of those who couldn’t, or wouldn’t, help us to start our lives among them.
We pray, too, that our mothers and our fathers may imagine hearing right now our gentle voices praying for them, praying that they may yet join us in saying, ‘Yes, to life! Yes, to every precious life!’
So, we each hope that someday, and forever after, they will hear our now-well-developed sweet voices here in God’s good heaven saying, ‘Welcome to God’s grace and life forever, Mom and Dad.’”
